What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Ramprasad invents the clean-shaven Laxman Prasad persona to deceive Bhavani Shankar while navigating two incompatible romantic and professional expectations.
Bhavani Shankar equates a mustache with character and polices his employees' recreation, making grooming and discipline central sources of comedy.
Urmila loves Laxman while Bhavani insists she marry Ramprasad, forcing romantic choice into conflict with paternal control.
Amol Palekar's contrasting portrayals of mustached Ramprasad and clean-shaven Laxman anchor the film's disguises, reversals, and chase humor.
