What critics said
Critics broadly praised the film as an original, daring, and emotionally genuine fusion of dark romantic comedy and horror, while noting that its episodic premise can feel overextended.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Nina literally reappears during Holly and Rob's intimate encounters, turning bereavement into a recurring bodily obstacle.
The film treats a corpse interrupting sex as absurd while maintaining genuine emotional attention to loss and closure.
Nina returns whenever Holly and Rob have sex, making desire the precise mechanism that summons the dead.
Rob's bond with Holly remains entangled with Nina, whose continuing presence prevents a clean transition from old love to new love.
