Critics broadly found the first-person action experiment technically inventive and energetic but weakened by thin characters and an underdeveloped story.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Henry's silent perspective supplies the film's continuous visual field and makes combat feel like a playable videogame.
The film uses first-person combat, escalating encounters, platform-like traversal, and game-inspired pacing as its primary formal language.
Henry's replacement limbs and amnesia turn bodily reconstruction and uncertain identity into central story problems.
Mercenary assaults, gore, martial-arts combat, and elaborate stunts dominate the film's frenetic experience.
