What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The Walmington-on-Sea platoon supplies the film's central comic engine through bungling wartime duties.
The film adapts the long-running Dad's Army television franchise and emphasizes recognizable character archetypes.
The plot introduces a German spy into the Home Guard's coastal community while the platoon deals with a visiting journalist.
The Home Guard's amateur status drives the conflict between military expectations and comic incompetence.
