What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Waris's circumcision and later public opposition to FGM form the film's central social issue.
Waris leaves nomadic Somalia, survives in London, and builds a new identity as a model and advocate.
The story links Waris's escape and professional rise to her role as a UN spokeswoman against FGM.
Waris's passage from Somali wilderness to European urban life supplies a defining visual and geographic contrast.
