What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Lale and her four sisters repeatedly cooperate to evade domestic restrictions and protect one another from imposed marriages.
The family home is transformed through physical barriers, supervision, and homemaking instruction that replaces the girls' schooling.
The sisters lose ordinary school life and youthful freedom as marriage arrangements begin before they are ready for adulthood.
Early playful movement through village and seaside spaces gives way to barred windows, restrictive routines, and controlled interiors.
