What critics said
Critics broadly found the ensemble talented but judged the film tonally uneven, emotionally forced, and less effective than its premise suggests.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The entire ensemble is gathered at the socially marginal Table 19, where their relationships and secrets become the film's central dramatic engine.
Eloise attends the wedding after losing her maid of honor role and is gradually reshaped by connection with the other unwanted guests.
The disparate guests' hidden disappointments and personal secrets are progressively exposed as the reception unfolds.
The wedding's celebratory surface contrasts with the embarrassment, rejection, and loneliness experienced at the back table.
