What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Philippe and François revive matter transmission experiments despite the disastrous legacy of Philippe's father.
The film's black-and-white presentation frames the transmission experiments and Philippe's transformation in stark gothic imagery.
Philippe follows his father's failed research and becomes trapped in its consequences fifteen years later.
Philippe is transformed into a half-man, half-fly creature, making bodily mutation the film's central visual motif.
