What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Elmeri and his openly gay nurse escape together and gradually form a bond while pursuing the hidden gold.
The northward trip brings the protagonists into contact with a cavalcade of unusual characters.
The gold hunt leads through Finnish Lapland and depends on a wartime story involving withdrawing German troops.
The psychiatric escape, gender-bending character performances, sexual nonconformity, and grotesque supporting figures define the comic register.
