What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Şaban is disguised as Tosun Pasha, allowing the Tellioglu family to exploit the prestige of an Ottoman military title.
Both rival families seek to marry a male relative to Leyla so Daver Bey will favor them in the Green Valley dispute.
The family and surrounding society treat the fabricated Tosun Pasha identity as genuine while viewers know it rests on Şaban's impersonation.
The plot places family rivalry and opportunistic matchmaking against the prestige of Ottoman rank in late nineteenth-century Alexandria.
