What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The central relationship among Mágnás Elza, Rózsi, and Kató unfolds within a household whose passions culminate in murder.
A famous prostitute, her housekeeper, and a new maid occupy sharply unequal positions in early twentieth-century Budapest.
The three women’s close living arrangement turns their passionate and bizarre bond into an increasingly oppressive emotional space.
Elza’s profession and the women’s interdependent household challenge conventional domestic and social roles in 1910s Hungary.
