What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Brice's unchanged self-image as the world's top surfer and his flamboyant behavior anchor the film's comic perspective.
Brice travels to the other side of the world to help Marius, placing his local persona in a new context.
Marius's need for help is the concrete reason Brice leaves his familiar world and undertakes the journey.
The premise emphasizes that the world has changed while Brice has not, making his persistent persona a primary source of humor.
