What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The High Table, excommunicado status, markers, and adjudication turn organized crime into an elaborate institution.
John's gunplay, martial arts, knife fights, and improvised weapons unfold through highly legible movement and sustained choreography.
John seeks assistance from figures such as Winston, the Bowery King, and Sofia while constrained by the High Table's rules.
The film treats extravagant executions, unusual weapons, and escalating pursuit mechanics with blackly playful energy.
