What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The story intercuts Big Nick O'Brien's sheriff's unit with Ray Merrimen's bank robbery crew as both prepare for the Federal Reserve heist.
The elite sheriff's unit uses brutality and intimidation while the robbers operate with military discipline, making legality and ethics deliberately unstable.
Merrimen's crew plans an assault on the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Los Angeles, the film's central logistical problem.
Assault rifles, armored vehicles, police operations, and extended Los Angeles shootouts give the film a militarized action texture.
