What critics said
Critics broadly found the true-event material undermined by thin characterization, an uninspired script, and a white-savior perspective that marginalizes Ethiopian refugees.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The story is inspired by Mossad missions that helped Ethiopian Jewish refugees reach Israel.
The film centers Chris Evans's Mossad agent Ari Levinson while critics noted that Ethiopian agency and perspective are marginalized.
The agents use a deserted Sudanese holiday resort as a functioning tourist retreat and cover for smuggling refugees.
Ari, Kabede, and their collaborators must move thousands of refugees while evading Sudanese authorities.
