Scott Huffman's award inquiry is shaped by interviews with Pitsenbarger's surviving comrades and family, while flashbacks dramatize their recollections.
Huffman initially treats the Medal of Honour case as a career opportunity but becomes committed to correcting the decades-old downgrade.
Pitsenbarger's recommended Medal of Honour is reduced to an Air Force Cross, prompting a thirty-year campaign for correction.
