What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Reggie and Bug are voiced as foul-mouthed adult comic characters while the film retains the structure of a dog adventure.
Reggie’s abandonment by Doug motivates his decision to reject obedience and seek revenge with other strays.
Reggie, Bug, Maggie, and other dogs travel through a series of encounters and dangers while forming a pack.
The film uses talking dogs, animal friendship, and homeward-bound adventure conventions as a vehicle for R-rated shock humor.
