What critics said
Critics broadly found the star-driven political drama earnest and well acted but preachy, overlong in its conversations, and dramatically inert.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The senator's interview, the soldiers' battlefield crisis, and the professor's meeting with his student unfold concurrently across ninety minutes.
The senator, reporter, professor, and student articulate competing views about war, civic responsibility, and political disengagement.
The central interview links military strategy, presidential ambition, and the journalist's responsibility to report government claims.
The strategic discussion is directly juxtaposed with two soldiers trapped under fire in Afghanistan.
