What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Borg's pursuit of a fifth consecutive Wimbledon title and McEnroe's challenge are presented through mounting psychological pressure.
The film intercuts Borg and McEnroe's personal histories and inner pressures instead of treating one player as a simple hero and the other as an antagonist.
Björn Borg's calm champion persona contrasts with the personal worries and emotional strain shown around the 1980 tournament.
The Wimbledon finale uses urgent music, creative camera angles, and hyperbolic commentary to intensify tennis exchanges.
