What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The Jones family markets designer clothes, cars, gadgets, and social status while presenting an artificial family image to their suburban neighbors.
Steve, Kate, Jenn, and Mick pose as a perfect family while their real purpose is to influence the purchasing behavior of the neighborhood.
The neighbors try to keep up with the Joneses through increasingly conspicuous consumption and lifestyle comparison.
McMansions, designer labels, fast cars, high-tech gadgets, and carefully styled appearances dominate the family's public presentation.
