What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Marek must obtain a weapon from the gods and recover it before the Lich King enslaves the world.
Marek is explicitly a cursed young sorceress whose struggle to recover the good in herself drives the quest.
The film foregrounds a sorceress, half-elf rogue, sworn enemies, undead legions, gods, and sword-and-sorcery quest conventions.
The Lich King's zombie legions ravage the world while the heroes race to prevent permanent enslavement.
