What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Haydar, Meryem, and their son travel from eastern Turkey through Istanbul and Italy toward Switzerland, relying on smugglers and facing lethal mountain conditions.
The film details the family’s sale of livestock, loss of money, clandestine travel, and vulnerability without romanticizing their migration.
Haydar must decide whether to leave seven children behind and take one son as an investment in the family’s future.
The abandoned travelers confront an Alpine pass and blizzard conditions that turn the promised land into a landscape of exposure and peril.
