What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Merricat's magical thinking, rituals, and interpretation of the family tragedy shape the audience's understanding of events.
The Blackwoods remain secluded in their castle while the nearby village's hostility turns the property into both sanctuary and prison.
The surviving Blackwoods organize their lives around the arsenic tragedy, secrecy, and Merricat's protective spells.
Charles arrives unannounced and focuses on the family's money rather than genuine reunion, destabilizing the sisters' fragile order.
