What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Megan's partnership with military dog Rex drives both her combat service and her personal emotional journey.
The plot moves from Megan's Marine training and Iraq deployments to her post-service struggle and continuing attachment to Rex.
Combat deployments and an IED attack are presented through Megan's close relationship with Rex rather than through battlefield spectacle alone.
