What critics said
Critics broadly found the real-life hostage crisis compelling but judged the dramatization dull, over-expository, and weakened by its stylized treatment of violence.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film intercuts the hijackers, Israeli political leaders, hostages, and military planners as they respond to the same crisis.
Israeli officials debate whether to release prisoners or authorize an elite commando raid to free the hostages.
The film alters aspects of the hostage separation and raid chronology while drawing on conflicting accounts of Operation Entebbe.
The final raid is cross-cut with a modern dance performance, linking physical movement and political violence through deliberate juxtaposition.
