What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Eve Batiste interprets family betrayal, sexuality, and mysticism through her own emerging understanding.
Voodoo practice, curses, and clairvoyant traditions shape the Batiste family's world without fully resolving the supernatural dimension.
Louis's womanizing and the family members' competing lies drive Eve's disillusionment.
Affluent rural Louisiana homes, taverns, nighttime rituals, and the surrounding bayou create an elegant but foreboding setting.
