What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Alex and Daniel knowingly share Bob Elkin, accepting the arrangement to preserve their connection with him.
The film presents Alex, Daniel, and Bob as sustained by partial attachments and difficult compromises rather than secure mutual devotion.
Bob's simultaneous relationships with Alex and Daniel make bisexuality central to the film's romantic and social perspective.
The sophisticated, controlled behavior of the protagonists contrasts with the deep pain produced by their arrangement.
