What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Brent is forced to become the entertainment at a macabre prom staged beneath a mirrored disco ball.
Brent relies on marijuana and metal music to block guilt over his father's death and his mother's collapse.
Pink satin, glitter, disco lighting, and domestic decor contrast with syringes, nails, and power tools.
The central torture ordeal unfolds largely inside a secluded house away from ordinary teenage life.
