What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Eryk and Dora attempt to establish a life together in Britain while Eryk's concealed past threatens their marriage.
The English-Polish couple seek a new life in Britain, making cultural displacement central to the premise.
The couple's home-building project is persistently shadowed by the return of Eryk's past.
The postwar setting and intimate focus frame the film as somber, inward-looking historical drama rather than large-scale period spectacle.
