What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Batman operates as a bat-garbed vigilante in a Victorian-era Gotham rather than the character's conventional modern setting.
The mystery pits Batman against the infamous murderer Jack the Ripper within an Elseworlds reinterpretation.
The plot foregrounds public fear of a weird creature of the night and frames Batman through mystery and superstition.
The film adapts the first Elseworlds tale and explicitly reimagines the Dark Knight outside standard continuity.
