What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The demon Sartael and the blacksmith's bargain are presented through Basque mythology and Euskara-language cultural context.
The film adapts an ancient fable into a nineteenth-century Basque village threatened by a devil and a fearful mob.
The production is notably defined by its practical effects, demon design, and elaborate set decoration.
Hermit-like blacksmith Patxi must reclaim the escaped demon while Usue becomes endangered by both supernatural forces and townspeople.
