What critics said
Critics have warmly regarded the special as an unusually strong and influential animated musical adaptation of Dickens's Christmas classic.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The Dickens story is presented as a compact animated musical, with songs integrated into Scrooge's transformation.
Mr. Magoo's pronounced nearsightedness generates visual and situational comedy while he performs the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
Its brief animated format, Christmas setting, and long-standing reputation place it among classic televised holiday specials.
The three Christmas spirits and Marley's Ghost confront Scrooge with the consequences of his miserly life.
