What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Jane’s cosmetic surgery and the daughters’ differing struggles reveal anxiety passed through the family under the guise of love and aspiration.
The family members weather health, marriage, career, and adolescence crises without receiving polished Hollywood resolutions.
Holofcener centers four women and uses sharp dialogue to expose rivalry, vanity, tenderness, and self-absorption.
The critical reception specifically identifies the film’s clean, unfussy visual style and slice-of-life atmosphere.
