What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Giacomo reunites with Giovanni after three years of estrangement and revisits the history of their friendship with Aldo.
The three friends are dissatisfied with careers as an opera phantom, film dubbing performer, and department-store mannequin before attempting their own show.
The reunion is motivated by a visit to Aldo in Sicily, who is described as dying, giving the comedy a tearful emotional frame.
Giacomo's meeting with Giovanni leads into flashbacks explaining their careers, theatrical plans, romantic troubles, and quarrel.
