What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Fong Shiyu's repeated defeats and clashes with more disciplined Shaolin practitioners turn combat and training into recurring comic set pieces.
Fong's uninhibited arrogance drives his flight to Shaolin and his conflict with Master San Te.
Fong must navigate Manchu authority, a governor's questionable protection, and the possibility of betraying the Shaolin Temple.
The film centers on Shaolin training, agile disciples, and Master San Te's superior command of body and mind.
