What critics said
Critics generally found the supernatural premise and committed performances appealing but judged the feature-length adaptation poorly served by flimsy dialogue and confusing execution.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The tall grass functions as the central environment and actively disorients, separates, and traps the characters.
The field's tightening grip and distorted movement through its space create a recurring, loop-like structure.
Becky and Cal's sibling relationship, along with the Humboldt father-son relationship, is tested inside the field.
The open grass field initially appears mundane but becomes ominous, isolating, and physically threatening.
