What critics said
Critics broadly found the film formulaic and misguided, with a talented cast unable to overcome weak writing and cartoonish cultural stereotypes.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Nikki and Leo's relationship is constrained by Sal and Vince's longstanding rivalry between neighboring pizzerias.
The Angioli and Campo families operate competing pizzerias, with secret sauce and dough recipes at the center of their conflict.
Nikki must compete for a position at Corinne's London restaurant while confronting her history with Leo after returning to Toronto.
Critics specifically identified the film's exaggerated portrayals of Italian, Indian, gay, and other cultural identities as a defining weakness.
