What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Zatoichi's identity as a blind masseuse and swordsman culminates in stylized confrontations with gangsters and yakuza.
After the child's mother is killed, Zatoichi commits to escorting the baby to its father despite the risks.
Zatoichi's partnership with a young pickpocket and their growing attachment to the baby temper the film's assassin and gang conflict.
The characters travel across period Japan while seeking the baby's father and encountering organized criminal opposition.
