What critics said
Critics broadly found the remake visually polished and supported by Tom Hanks and strong voice performances, but overfamiliar, awkwardly blended, and unable to recapture the original's magic.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film places live-action performers such as Tom Hanks alongside digitally animated Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, and other fantasy figures.
The film explicitly adapts Disney's established Pinocchio story as a 2022 live-action remake of the animated classic.
Pinocchio's journey is structured around becoming truthful, brave, and responsible while navigating deceptive and threatening situations.
The production uses extensive CGI and lush visual detail to render its talking animals, magical beings, puppet hero, and storybook settings.
