What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Five Taiwanese directors contribute separate segments set against the shared premise of Taiwan in 2028.
The segments explicitly frame nuclear waste, migrant labor, industrial collapse, demographic change, and insomnia as consequences of present-day problems.
The film asks whether its projected Taiwanese problems are ultimately exclusive to Taiwan or representative of wider human concerns.
Nuclear waste and environmental pollution disrupt relationships and contribute to an attack on humanity in the film's dystopian future.
