What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Will Hunting uses hostility, fights, and intellectual superiority to avoid vulnerability and reject educational and personal opportunities.
Sean Maguire gradually earns Will's trust and helps him address buried emotional wounds rather than merely manage his mathematical talent.
Will is a mathematical prodigy who works as a Harvard janitor and remains rooted in South Boston friendships and neighborhood life.
Will's confrontations with Sean, Lambeau, and others turn wit and argument into both emotional armor and connection.
