What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Thomas's birthday gathering expands from a small social event into an uncontrollable neighborhood-wide spectacle.
Thomas wants the party to raise his social standing and improve his romantic prospects.
The film uses a faux-documentary found-footage presentation to observe the party from an embedded camera perspective.
The party's appeal and escalation depend on substance use, sexual expectations, and competitive irresponsibility.
