What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The central threat is that the annual Purge continues beyond its scheduled twelve-hour limit and becomes an ongoing condition.
The Texas and desert setting, armed marauders, and movement toward safety give the film a neo-western survival shape.
The marauders’ ideology and the conflict around immigrants connect the survival plot to fears of illegal immigration and national belonging.
Adela and the Tucker family are forced into a shared survival alliance while facing organized lawlessness and class tension.
