What critics said
Critics found the biographical thriller uneven but broadly agreed that Dominic Cooper's dual performance provides its strongest and most compelling element.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Dominic Cooper plays both coerced body double Latif Yahia and Uday Hussein, making identity and impersonation central to the film's structure.
Latif's forced service occurs inside Saddam Hussein's palace and reveals the regime through Uday's private violence and corruption.
Latif becomes Uday's fiday because refusal could lead to his family's death.
The Baghdad palace setting, elite excess, and Uday's debauchery contrast with the danger and coercion surrounding Latif.
