What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The Khan household is split between Salford life and the Pakistani family George abandoned decades earlier.
Sajid faces his father's insistence on Pakistani tradition alongside bullying and adolescence in 1970s England.
The Salford entourage follows George to Punjab, bringing unresolved family tensions into direct contact with his first household.
The dysfunctional Khan family remains claustrophobic and quarrelsome while retaining emotional bonds that can become genuinely touching.
