What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Yaşar and Nezaket repeatedly hope for a male child, while their daughters receive masculine names and become central to the film's critique of gender expectations.
The parents attempt to arrange rich husbands for their daughters, turning matchmaking into the principal source of comic pressure.
The daughters, including İsmet and Nedret, collectively shape the household's matchmaking problems rather than serving as a single secondary subplot.
The search for suitable rich husbands links family security to wealth and exposes the social assumptions behind arranged pairings.
