What critics said
Critics broadly found the film an effective, warm classic rom-com whose queer leads bring LGBTQ+ specificity and normalization to a familiar formula.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Sam and Harry's relationship follows familiar rom-com patterns while the story explicitly engages with gay and pansexual identities rather than simply replacing a heterosexual couple.
Sam is forced to travel with his former high school enemy Harry, and their antagonism gradually shifts toward romantic possibility.
The film presents Sam and Harry's identities through romantic and comedic conflict, with positive pansexual representation and no central trauma narrative.
Critical reception repeatedly praises Jake Borelli and Niko Terho's chemistry as the film's strongest feature.
