What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Four separate stories examine different forms of participation, refusal, consequence, and escape surrounding capital punishment.
The stories connect military service, execution, guilt, and personal responsibility under authoritarian rule.
Conscientious objection and resistance are set against threats that make individual freedom appear nearly impossible.
Family settings, celebrations, proposals, and intimate conversations are placed alongside the consequences of state-sanctioned execution.
