What critics said
Critics generally found the film to be pulpy and inventive fun, while noting that its creature feature, war movie, and feminist social commentary do not blend evenly.
What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Most of the action unfolds aboard a single bomber during a stormy flight.
The film combines absurd stunts, creature chaos, and war-movie melodrama with a deliberately heightened sensibility.
Maude must overcome the crude suspicion and hostility of the all-male bomber crew while taking control of the crisis.
Maude's top secret cargo makes the crew question her identity and motives before the supernatural threat emerges.
