What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
The film sends a flamboyant crew through space and time while parodying space marines, futuristic rulers, spacecraft missions, and historical adventure imagery.
Captain Kork, Brigitte Spuck, and the film’s multiple drag and gender-play performances make gender performance a recurring comic device.
The futuristic heroes travel to 2004 to prevent humanity from acquiring spacecraft technology, creating the central collision between future and present.
The colonized Mars, spaceship Surprise, experimental time machine, Area 51 mission, and flamboyant costumes create a deliberately artificial science fiction world.
